Duck River Garden Club Celebrates Member’s Statewide Achievement Award

News From The Duck River Garden Club Of Old Lyme Serving Old Lyme and East Lyme

We are thrilled to announce that one of our members has been awarded a Certificate of Individual
Achievement from the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut.
Mark Comstock, local grower and owner of Hydrangea Galore in Old Lyme, has been selected for this award. Mark is also a bonsai expert, and conservationist who has worked tirelessly to assist the Lyme communities in a myriad of ways.  He created an instructional class entitled “The intersection of bonsai and conservation” where he gave a bonsai demonstration on a local pitch pine for members and the public, and another class for NGC week at our local senior center. Mark has done additional educational instruction on propagation of hydrangea trees for our garden club as well as other garden clubs in the Southeast CT area. He has donated his plants for our town beautification sites, for events at the Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library, the OL Midsummer Festival, and for our club garden sale each May. Mark solved our water issue at the garden sale by providing use of his 500-gallon water tank, delivering and retrieving it from our sale. Mark is professional, enthusiastic and generous with his vast horticulture knowledge.
