The Director of Day Services will direct and manage the overall operations of SARAH Inc.’s day program services. They will be responsible for ensuring that all services are operated in compliance with regulatory and waiver requirements, agency policy and quality standards. In addition, they will provide technical assistance and support to programs in the development and implementation of systems to promote quality person-centered, outcome-based services. This position will be based out of our Westbrook location. 

  • Directs all aspects of Day (Enrichment) services, both administrative and service delivery. 
  • Assist the CPO of Adult Services in the assessment, development, and implementation of innovative programs to address the spectrum of participant needs. 
  • Design learning activities and provide training to staff to direct the effective implementation of curricula and other learning systems.
  • Ensure personnel needs of assigned area are met through effective hiring, training, evaluation, scheduling and supervision of staff. 
  • Oversee the quality of programmatic, health and habilitative services. Review & monitor the quality of Individual Service Plans (IP) and outcomes to ensure the needs of persons served are met and services meet waiver requirements.
  • Conduct internal investigations as deemed necessary.
  • Assists the agency in meeting the financial objectives by developing budgets, monitoring program revenue and expenses and overseeing the use of funds to assure that program’s fiscal stability and budget performance.
  • Assist in development and implementation of program Policies and Procedures to assure regulatory compliance and best practices.
  •  Compile and analyze data to identify trends. Ensure maintenance and timely completion of all required and requested reports.
  • Represents the agency at all required meetings, trainings, and professional assignments. 
  • Actively participates in activities that promote community awareness, including public speaking, and representing the agency in organizations and organizational committees. 
  • Maintains communication with other departments to promote positive working relationships and open communication. 

 

Requirements
  • BA from accredited college or university in related field required. 
  • Several years of experience in providing recreational, social and other enriching activities to adults with differing abilities would be considered in lieu of a degree. 
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory and management experience required 
  • Clinical or academic background in the field of intellectual and other disabilities strongly preferred.   
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership, forge community partnerships and build positive coalitions.  
  • Creative problem solving and strong communication skills necessary. 
  • Must be over 18 and possess a valid Connecticut driver’s license, have an acceptable driving history and be able to utilize your own vehicle for SARAH business as defined by SARAH Inc.’s policy. 
  • Must have internet access, cell phone, and reliable transportation.

  • Ability to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills necessary to provide guidance and instruction to families
  • Ability to work successfully, both independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to use adaptive and other equipment
  • Ability to maintain a patient and positive attitude
  • Ability to work flexible hours and drive/travel to varying locations as needed.

 

Required Physical Effort:

Must be able to sit, stand and walk at an assigned location(s) and work for extended periods of time; bend/stoop, kneel and balance frequently; climb, reach above shoulder level; push/pull, squat and crouch occasionally; with assistance, lift, carry and position individuals of various weight. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to drive multi-passenger vehicles for extended periods throughout the day.
