Our Founding Mothers with storyteller Monica Peteson (America 250 event)
Join us for a wonderful evening of storytelling, sharing two stories about Connecticut heroes in the fight for Independence.
Storyteller Monica Peterson presents “Our Founding Mothers” – historical accounts of local women whose bravery helped found this country.
Using story, costume, and photographs, Monica transports audiences back in time to hear about:
"Sybil Ludington" - an account of the burning of Danbury during the Revolutionary War and how a teenage girl's midnight ride to warn the countryside that the British were coming to attack resulted in an American victory at Ridgefield, Connecticut.
"An Army of Two" - two young sisters save their New England town from the British Navy during the War of 1812.
This event was made possible by Friends of Acton Library.
