Captivating Portraiture Workshop with Mike Laiuppa
No matter your style, you will learn techniques to creating portraits that hold the viewer’s attention. In this workshop, students explore the use of subtle temperature shifts, broken color, and edge quality—all which contribute to a more convincing and captivating portrait. It’s these subtle, yet more advanced techniques, that bring a portrait to life. Even if the viewer has an untrained eye and is unable to see these aspects of the work, they will certainly feel them! The viewer may not know why the portrait stands out from others, but they will most definitely appreciate it.
Over this two-day workshop, Mike will demo as well as walk around and help students individually. Whatever the artist's skill level, he will meet them at their level and work together with them. While the work in the workshop will be intense, the atmosphere will be relaxed. Mike will also explain his process of adding components to a piece to make a portrait become a story.
