A special evening at the Kate featuring the photography of Sonny Whelen, current trustee and former chair of the Kate’s Board of Trustees. Whelen’s stunning collection captures the timeless beauty and enchantment of Venice—the iconic backdrop of Hepburn’s 1955 film Summertime, which will be screened at 7 pm. Whelen recently traveled back to Venice intent on revisiting and capturing the many sites featured in the film, and remarked, “Venice is a spectacular city that captured my heart and imagination.” In the 1955 film, Katharine Hepburn portrays American spinster Jane Hudson. Her dream of romance finally becomes a bittersweet reality when she meets a handsome - but married - Italian man while on vacation. Reception with Venetian-inspired food and wine (beer, soft drinks and water also included). View the on-screen photo exhibit on lobby screens and the Kate’s big screen in the theater; brief remarks around 6:15 pm Opportunity to purchase select prints.
